Hey Julian...very nice wrap up! And thanks for the plug as well. It will be interesting to see how much control we will have over UI elements in Notes 8. I hope it's pretty good and I hope that some of the templates get updated, otherwise we might be surfacing some unsightly apps in a cool UI wrapper and that will kind of be like putting lipstick on a pig!

Here at IBM, we have an internal system called bluepages, which is very similar to what Lotus Connections is. It's a very useful tool to find people, reporting structures, and what skills people have. I think Lotus Connections will be pretty popular.

Thanks for the nice words about Quickr . We're having fun building it.

Chris - I wouldnt get too excited about the complete and total access to everything UI (toolbars, menus, etc) in 8.0.0 ... but I know its on their list.

Template updates would be good. The Server Doc and Config Doc need a good overhaul. I wish IBM would make the Domino Directory based on Blue Pages. It would make the Domino Directory a more meaningful tool.

Nice wrap-up Julian.
I don't remember if it was mentioned and I don't see it described in the Quickr site. What's the difference between the personal and enterprise editions of Quickr?
Thanks.

@5 Curt, Here is what IBM said on their web site "A "personal edition" of IBM Lotus Quickr software that includes the desktop connectors and content library capabilities of Lotus Quickr software will be provided to licensed Lotus Notes and Domino customers at no additional charge."

@1 Chris.
It would not surprise me that the templates have not been updated.

Julian,
This was a nice summary of Lotusphere. It seems that everything is coming together with Notes being the center piece. My main concern is getting companies to buy in and start using the features and capabilities. Even right now many of the companies that we consult for or have provide training do not use features like the instant messaging or presence awareness features. It is important for IBM to convey the right message to encourage customers to use Notes as a true collaborative and application tool instead of just email. By doing that, it will be harder for Microsoft to make their sell.

But, I am really happy that IBM finally got the message. Let's us see how well it will be executed.

Hello! Great blog! I have a quick question. Years ago there used to be a plug-in for Lotus Notes that indented and color coded formula language. I don't remember the name of it. Do you know of any such thing for Notes 7? Keep up the great work!

Trish
